The only long-span deployable solar generator system for Parking Lots,
EV Charging, Disaster Relief and Military Operations
Overview
The Plug & Play Solar Wing Canopy is a fully integrated factory fabricated photovoltaic generator system capable of deploying to create a long span PV array that is up to seven times larger than its stowed transportation footprint. This allows the system to be fully built, wired, and inspected in a factory, delivered to a site, deployed using human power (gravity) and instantly create electricity within minutes of arrival. Conversely, the system can stow into a compressed format both for transportation to a new site or to ruggedize to survive extreme weather events such as hurricanes, tornados, wildfires, and snowstorms. The system is well suited for conventional permanent photovoltaic installations including electric vehicle charge stations, surface parking lot canopy systems, airplane hangars and residential applications. Additionally, a containerized version is well suited for disaster relief, forward operating bases for the military, mobile charge stations for construction and agricultural applications as well as community solar projects.
Velocity
Due to the novel design of the system when installed on a relatively flat site such as a parking lot or urban back yard, the Plug & Play Solar Wing can be installed at a rate of 12KW per manhour. A two-person crew with a small forklift can install a megawatt in a 40-hour work week. This unprecedented speed of install will completely disrupt the photovoltaic EPC ecosystem. The target installed cost per watt without storage is $2.50/Wdc. This $/Wdc figure will have little variation nationwide due to the automated prefabrication approach used to manufacture the system.
Kinematic Optimization
The PPSW’s unique design (Patent: US 10958209 B2) is based on a four-point hinge mechanism that is configured in such a way that it is perfectly balanced above and below the base frame connection, henceforth called the ‘zero-line’. This balanced design allows for the mechanism to be gravity actuated whereas the downward force acting on the components below the zero line creates the necessary force to lift the symmetrical components above the zero-line. This perfectly balanced configuration allows for the structure to be deployed by a single person in both the deployed and stowed directions.
